Police say they are searching for two suspects in connection to a shooting that sent a teen to the hospital Thursday night.
Police say the 13-year-old was shot in the knee at a Hunts Point playground around 6 p.m.
They say witnesses reported that one suspect gave a gun to another suspect who then shot the teen. They say the suspect took off on a dirt bike.
The shooting is just one of many that have impacted the city’s youth. In the past two weeks, News 12 has covered eight shootings involving kids in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
On Thursday, the City Council called on the governor to change the state’s gun laws after they say 21 children have been killed across the five boroughs so far this year.
Parents say this was once a safe area, but that now they worry for young people in the neighborhood. They say incidents like this make them feel like nowhere is safe for their kids.
Police say the alleged shooter is still on the run. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
