Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man believed to have burglarized the Lady of Mount Carmel Annunciation Church in Williamsburg on Sept. 22.
NYPD officials say the suspect got in by breaking a window that led to a small room next to the altar. They added that he stole a decades-old chalice, a priest's vestment and other items. "There's no value on sacred objects... it's part of the worship live and history of this church and community," said Father Michele Vricella, who discovered the burglary a few hours later.
No one was hurt during the incident. Police are asking anyone with any information to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-tips.
