Police say shots were fired at plainclothes officers who were responding to a dispute in Bed-Stuy early Sunday morning.
They say officers were canvassing the area of Bainbridge Street and Saratoga Avenue around 2 a.m. when shots were fired at their unmarked car.
No injuries were reported.
Officials say around the time of the shooting, the crowd around the scene became chaotic. Police arrested five people for disorderly conduct, but they say those people are not believed to be the shooters.
Investigators say they found ballistic evidence on the scene that may lead them to the shooting suspect. The NYPD says none of their officers fired their weapons.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
