Dobbs Ferry police tried to stop a car for several traffic violations Thursday night. Police say the driver tried to escape but crashed on Washington Avenue in Irvington. Three of the suspects who were inside the vehicle fled on foot.
Police tell News 12 they arrested one man from the Bronx who had a loaded handgun on him. The other two are still on the run but not believed to be in the Dobbs Ferry area.
A second unloaded handgun was found inside the stolen car. The car was stolen from Yonkers.
Police say they are increasing police presence in parts of the village out of an abundance of caution. They are asking everyone to make sure they lock their cars and remove all valuables.
