Police say three men ransacked a Marine Park home early Monday morning and attacked two of its inhabitants.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the area of Madison Place and Avenue R.

Police say the suspects assaulted a 72-year-old man, who suffered a cut to the left cheek. The former NYPD member was taken to Maimonides Medical Center.

A 71-year-old woman in the home was sexually assaulted, authorities say. She was treated at the scene.

Police say the suspects fled in a vehicle stolen from the home. They say the suspects are believed to have taken a gun from the residence.

News 12 is told that the couple were victims of a similar incident in the past.
