Police: Woman fatally shot in East Flatbush, person of interest in custody

Police say they have taken a 48-year-old person-of-interest in custody but did not confirm if he was armed with a gun.

A person of interest connected to the fatal shooting of a woman in East Flatbush on Sunday has been taken into police custody.

Police say they responded to a call reporting a shooting at a private home on East 96th Street at around 3 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a 49-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say they have taken a 48-year-old person-of-interest in custody but did not confirm if he was armed with a gun.

Police say they believe the individual taken into custody may have been the victim's boyfriend. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
