Police: Woman fatally struck by truck in Gowanus

Sources say that the intersection where the incident took place does not have a clearly defined crosswalk.

A woman was struck and killed by a truck in Gowanus, according to the NYPD.
Police say the incident happened at the intersection of Bond and Butler streets at around 11:30 a.m. The 83-year-old woman was crossing Bond Street when the truck traveling westbound on Butler Street attempted to make a right turn on Bond and struck her.
Sources say that the intersection where the incident took place does not have a clearly defined crosswalk.
She was transported to Methodist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Law enforcement officials say the vehicle continued driving for a few blocks before stopping at Bergen Street and 3rd Avenue and pulling over.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
