A woman was hospitalized following a violent carjacking in Coney Island, police say.
Police say a 40-year-old woman had her vehicle carjacked while her husband was strapping their two toddlers in the backseat.
A 24-year-old suspect, identified as Kahil Ivey, allegedly jumped in the driver seat, reversed the car and hit the mother.
The suspect then fled on foot and attempted to carjack another woman as police were responding to the first incident.
The victims were able to flag the suspect down and police caught up to him.
Sources tell News 12 that the suspect had been arrested for a carjacking previously.
Police say Ivey is being charged with robbery, unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal possession of stolen property.
