Police: Yonkers man fatally stabs father

A 31-year-old Yonkers man has been charged with murder for fatally stabbing his father Monday morning, police say.
Police responded to a home on Smart Avenue at 7:45 a.m. and found Hekmat Ahmad with multiple stab wounds.
The 61-year-old was taken to Westchester Medical Center, where he later died.
According to officials, investigators determined that Ahmad was in his home when he was attacked by his son, Rami Ahmad. Police say the 31-year-old left the home before police arrived.
Following a search, officers located Rami just before 11:15 a.m. near Kingston Avenue and Palmer Road in Yonkers, where he was taken into custody.
Police recovered a folding knife from Rami.
People who live in the neighborhood told News 12 that they are devastated and shaken by the news.
"I know the family. The family is a very nice family, beautiful family. The father, I used to talk with him," said Yonkers resident Adriano Amicucci.
Rami has been charged with murder in the second degree. He is due back in court on Oct. 8.
