In celebration of the official start of summer, the New York City Parks Department treated parkgoers in Williamsburg to a trip under the sea.
Kids were treated to a pop-up aquarium at McCarren Park Monday.
The aquarium had no water or living creatures, but kids were able to get their hands dirty digging through beach sand.
The sand was filled with once-living objects like animal skeletons normally found at beaches.
The kids also learned how to identify animals living underwater with a coloring activity.
Organizers say the event's goal was to open the eyes of kids to a new world under the sea.
The pop-up aquarium was only in the park for the day, but the Parks Department says it plans on holding more events like it throughout the city this summer.
