Port Jefferson EMS receives approval for in-home vaccination program
Port Jefferson EMS said Thursday it has received approval to vaccinate homebound residents in Suffolk County.
Port Jefferson EMS said the state Department of Health gave it authorization to operate the Community Paramedic Vaccination Program throughout the county.
The program will allow Port Jefferson paramedics to perform in-home vaccinations to homebound residents and for paramedics to independently staff vaccination sites.
Port Jefferson EMS said the program is the first of its kind in Suffolk and will ensure COVID-19 vaccines get to the most vulnerable populations.
Available appointments will be announced in the coming days.
