Residents of Union Avenue woke up Friday morning to discover their street flooded and their water shut off.
Officials say water erupted from a crack in the ground in front of the Davidson Senior Center at 950 Union Ave.
Firefighters arrived at the scene, informing residents in surrounding buildings that their water would be turned off by the Department of Environmental Protection while crews worked on the site and investigated.
The superintendent of the Davidson Senior Center, Connie Perez, says she is concerned for the well-being of the residents who live in that building.
?I hope the city [will] supply some help for the people because they cannot cook, cannot do anything,? Perez says.
Neighbors in nearby houses fear they will remain without water for much of the day.
