Poughkeepsie students will spend another day learning remotely Wednesday after a social media threat sent them home early Monday.

School officials say they became aware of the shooting threat Sunday night and reported it to the city police department.

That threat is still being investigated but is believed to be a hoax. It mentioned a shooting for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the high school and middle school.

On Wednesday, an 11-year-old was identified by police as the source of an unrelated threat to shoot up every school in the district. 

Police say that child allegedly made a post on Snapchat that there will be shootings at all Poughkeepsie schools.

City police and the FBI linked the Snapchat account with the address of the 11-year-old. She now has an appearance ticket for Dutchess County Family Court.

While officials haven't confirmed the 11-year-old's connection to what's happening at the middle and high schools school district officials say that separate threat on Sunday appears to be unfounded.

Police also say that a 15-year-old female is being charged with four counts of marking a terroristic threat after a community member reported a social media threat of school violence at the middle and high schools.

They say was issued an appearance ticket for Dutchess County Family Court and released to her parents.

Police have not said if any of these incidents are connected.
