After years of declining influence, unions appear to be having a resurgence.
In just the last few months, workers have been organizing at a pace this country hasn't seen since the Great Depression. Amazon captured headlines for union drives at its warehouses, including a successful effort on Staten Island.
But activity is also picking up elsewhere in retail and tech, at big companies that are generally viewed as progressive, with no history of labor unions.
Rich Barrabi welcomes John Durso, the president of the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and state Sen. Mario Mattera, of St. James, a longtime union leader, to Power & Politics.
