A pregnant Brownsville woman says the ceiling in her NYCHA apartment came crashing down while she was in the shower Tuesday.
Workers patched the ceiling Wednesday morning, but Dominique Knight, who lives on Tapscott Street with her four other children, says she doesn't feel safe at home.
"I was taking a shower," she says. "The ceiling fell down on me, then the walls collapsed on my feet."
The apartment also has problems with roaches and mice, she says, and she claims past NYCHA repairs have been limited to temporary fixes.
"I want this to be a better living place for me and my children to live," says Knight, who is expecting twins with her current pregnancy. "It is just ridiculous, and we have had to go through this for a whole two years."
NYCHA says it will send exterminators to the apartment Thursday.
"Every NYCHA resident deserves a safe, clean place to call home," a spokesperson said.
