A prison inmate with Brooklyn ties is facing charges for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill the police commissioner and blow up NYPD headquarters.
David Brown, 47, was arrested Monday for criminal solicitation. Authorities say he offered an undercover officer $15,000 to behead NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly and $50,000 to bomb One Police Plaza in Manhattan. The undercover cop said Brown was angered by the November killing of Sean Bell. Bell, who was unarmed and black, was killed in a barrage of bullets from plainclothes cops after leaving his bachelor party in Queens.
Brown, who used to live on Eastern Parkway, is a Rikers Island inmate. He was convicted in 2001 for the attempted murder of his wife. Brown also has at least 30 other convictions.
