A program to protect open space pathways is expanding citywide.
Since 2015, maintaining the Brooklyn Greenway along the borough's waterfront has been made possible by the program Adopt-A-Greenway.
Officials are making a plea for sponsors as they expand the program across the city.
The program was launched in November 2015.
The city is asking companies and organizations for a tax-deductible donation that would help pay to maintain pedestrian and bike paths, including litter cleanup, landscaping and snow removal.
The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway goes from Greenpoint to Red Hook, about 6 miles along Brooklyn's East River waterfront.
