The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office says that the victims of an apparent murder-suicide in the Fords section of Woodbridge Wednesday evening have been identified as a married couple.
The prosecutor says that Woodbridge police were called to Soren Street just after 4:30 p.m. for reports of an unconscious woman found on the front lawn. That woman has been identified as 69-year-old Lynn Jasper. Officials say that she was shot multiple times.
The shooting prompted a large police response and parts of the street were shut down for several hours.
Witnesses told News 12 New Jersey at the time that they believed that the person who shot the woman was barricaded inside the home.
When police finally got into the home, they found 66-year-old James Jasper dead. Officials say that it appeared that he shot himself.
Authorities say the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide. They say that there is no threat to the public.
