Hundreds of residents participated in a walk Sunday in Prospect Park to benefit autism research.
The Autism Speaks walk was a proud moment for 8-year-old Gilberto and his family. The boy was diagnosed with autism last year.
Gilberto's family says he is the light of their lives and they will do anything they can to make sure he's all right.
Another child who participated, Jayden, was diagnosed with severe autism when he was 2 years old. Now 5, Jayden's family not only walked took part in the walk, but used it as an opportunity to record a music video for a rap song written by his father.
Organizers say that although Sunday's event was their second annually, they plan to hold the walk for many years to come.
