Concerned residents joined lawmakers at City Hall Monday to demand greater transparency in the Atlantic Yards project.
State Assemblyman James Brennan (D-44th District) led the charge on the steps of City Hall, claiming the state must fully disclose the financial details of the $4 billion project. Brennan says his request to the Public Authorities Control Board for financial disclosure was denied. The assemblyman adds his office might sue in order to extract the information.
Protesters maintain the state has not addressed several issues brought up in the environmental impact statement. They say more needs to be done before final votes are cast on the project, which would feature a new arena for the New Jersey Nets basketball team.
