Boerum Hill residents rallied in the streets Wednesday over deadly traffic tie-ups on Atlantic Avenue.

The protest comes weeks after out-of-control vehicles struck and killed two pedestrians on the busy road. Some residents say crossing Atlantic Avenue is often a matter of life and death. They also worry about the traffic impact of the proposed Atlantic Yards project, which consists of a Nets basketball arena in the downtown area. Protesters want the city to reconfigure traffic lights and end the unpopular ban on parking between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Last year, the city pledged millions of dollars to make Atlantic Avenue safer, but locals say the situation appears to be getting worse.
