Protesters gathered ahead of Mayor Bill de Blasio's State of the City address at Lehman College Thursday to protest his stance on affordable housing.
Various community groups came together for several causes, but the main target was the mayor's plan to increase affordable housing in the city.
Protesters said they disagreed with the mayor's definition of "affordable," because low-income residents will likely be unable to afford rent in proposed buildings.
They said de Blasio's plan could push longtime, low-income residents out of their homes.
In another blow to the mayor's plans, local elected officials, including the borough president, voted against rezoning part of Jerome Avenue in November.
