Mott Haven residents are taking to the Internet in an effort to stop an online grocer from moving its headquarters to the borough.
Protesters say they're collecting signatures for an online petition against Fresh Direct. They say they have major environmental and community concerns about the company.
Fresh Direct insists it will bring nothing but benefits and thousands of entry-level jobs. "Fresh Direct will continue working with all of our stakeholders to source new jobs from The Bronx community and to make our fresh produce and food readily accessible to our new Bronx neighbors, while continuing to be environmentally sensitive and a good member of the community," says a company statement.
