? Protesters rallied at the site of the Atlantic Yards project Monday as crews prepared to tear down nine buildings. More than 100 protesters from Develop Don?t Destroy Brooklyn demonstrated against the project. They believe the demolition is being used as a fear tactic to gain support for the project?s continuation. A judge turned down a request Friday to hold off the demolition until a court hearing next month. The $4 billion plan calls for an arena for the New Jersey Nets as well as 16 residential and commercial towers. Forest City Ratner has already started demolishing buildings for the development. Forest City Ratner still faces two legal hurdles. The group has issued a challenge to the Environmental Impact Review over a lack of attention to terrorism. Some protestors are saying the size of the project makes it a target for terrorists. There is a federal lawsuit challenging the use of eminent domain as well. Related Information:
