An assistant principal at P.S. 106 in Parkchester has been accused of inappropriately touching two students.
Police say the incidents happened last Tuesday when the suspect, Joseph Ponzo, allegedly touched the girls' breasts over their clothing. The 59-year-old educator later turned himself into police custody.
Ponzo is charged with two counts of sexual abuse and acting in a manner dangerous to a child younger than 17 years old.
According to the Department of Education, Ponzo has worked at P.S. 106 since 2008 and has been a longtime teacher in The Bronx.
Parents at the school have described Ponzo as a serious person and strict principal who has never displayed any signs of inappropriate behavior around their children.
