A Brooklyn family is outraged that its 6-year-old daughter was unsupervised after dismissal from Public School 139 and ended up at a nearby store.
Jean Maglorie says she went to pick up her daughter Bryana about 6 p.m., but couldn?t find her. The Maglories say their daughter got past security and walked across busy Ocean and Flatbush avenues to a Staples store with a friend. A manager noticed the children and called police. The parents are also upset because Bryana should have been in an after-school program, which they say was canceled for the day without notification.
The Department of Education says it is taking the matter seriously and investigating the incident.
