A Mott Haven school principal is in danger of losing her job after being accused of falsifying records and using school funds for personal use. According to a Department of Education probe, P.S. 31 principal Liza Cruz Diaz had someone punch her time card several hours after she had already left for the day, giving her thousands of unearned dollars. The investigation also found that Diaz used city school subsidies toward her daughter's Sweet 16 party. The school has placed Diaz on administrative leave, and the special investigator in the case has recommended she be terminated immediately. The Department of Education launched the probe in July 2010.
