The students at P.S./I.S. 45 in Bushwick celebrated Black Heritage and Women's History months through a curated assembly that ended with a surprise.
Parents filled the auditorium as they watched their kids belt out hymns and songs honoring African-American heritage as well as celebrating Women's History Month through choreographed dances.
The Horace E. Greene school hosts the show every year, but this time it was different. They honored their retiring principal, Tracey Lott-Davis, by naming the school auditorium after her.
"I was destined to be the principal of this grade school. I was destined to mold and shape students and hopefully mold and shape a great deal of teachers and educators and parents as well. Thank you so much," says Lott-Davis.
Lott-Davis not only worked at the school for over 35 years, but also attended P.S./I.S. 45 as a child.
