The race to fill the 40th City Council District seat is coming to a close and some candidates were out meeting with voters Tuesday.Democratic candidates Jennifer James and Jesse Hamilton hit the streets to speak to residents. James says healthcare is a priority in the 40th District, which is considered the city?s epicenter of the AIDS epidemic. She met with healthcare professionals Tuesday to discuss funding for medical research and treatment.Hamilton boasts his more than two decades of political service will speak to voters. He was out on the streets with supporters to shake hands and assure them of a better community if he is elected.Residents say keeping housing affordable is their top concern. Both candidates say the issue is at the top of their agenda as well. James and Hamilton are two of more than 10 candidates in line for the seat previously held by Yvette Clark. The special election vote will take place on Tuesday, February 20.
