The Bronx Zoo hosted the Run for the Wild Race Saturday to raise money for animals.
The Run for the Wild was held virtually in 2020, but runners were able to participate in-person in 2021 with certain restrictions.
The event consisted of a 5K run and a 3K family walk through the zoo grounds.
Face coverings were required, start times were staggered and a limited number of people were allowed in the zoo to keep people socially distant.
There were also health screenings to ensure that all racers were cleared to run.
No spectators were at the race.
The runners raised money for the lemurs to help with lifesaving efforts and research in New York and around the world.
