The rain did not stop some Bronx residents from getting outside and burning a few pre-Thanksgiving feast calories.
"Just making it work" is the motto for organizers at Van Cortlandt Park, and it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without a turkey trot. Neither COVID-19 nor the rain stopped the first annual Bronx 2K Cake Walk Run.
The event is sponsored by Lloyd's Carrot Cake. Food is the focus, and all participants were asked to donate to The Friendly Fridge Bronx, which helps bring fresh produce and food to people in need around the borough.
Participants had an extra-wide starting line, for social distancing.
Organizers say they wanted give to the community something safe and fun to do on Thanksgiving morning.
