Parking meter rates will be increasing this fall in New York City, officials say.
Starting Oct. 16, hourly parking meter rates will increase citywide. Costs will vary by location, demand and duration of parking.
The increases will take effect on a rolling basis beginning in Manhattan. Brooklyn will see the change starting Nov. 9 and the Bronx on Nov. 22.
Officials say the reason for the increase is to have more parking availability in high demand areas.
