Storm cleanup is underway throughout Brooklyn Monday after the borough was hit with a powerful nor?easter.

Forecasters say the storm soaked the borough and city with more than 5 inches of rain. Some of that rain seeped into Sheepshead Bay homes, including flooding out some basements. The heavy rain also crept into many walls and ceilings.

Red Cross officials say after major storms, residents should check the structure and foundation of their homes for damage. Residents are also urged to check for electrical system damage. Red Cross officials say residents shouldn?t try to fix any electrical damage. They say Con Edison should be called for any electrical problems.

Residents should also check for sewage and waterline damage. Red Cross officials say if residents feel there is any sewer system damage, they should call their water company or a plumber.
