Relatives of the five members of a Brooklyn family killed in a car crash on Long Island opened up to News 12 about their tragedy.
The family says Myriam Lebrun was driving with her mother and three children back home to Brooklyn on Saturday night from Myriam's sister Viola's home on Long Island. Police say Myriam veered off the Southern State Parkway and struck a tree, killing everyone inside the vehicle.
Viola Lebrun says she is still in shock that she won't be speaking to Myriam three or four days a week like they normally did. Lebrun and her sisters say they are devastated by the loss, and they are upset by rumors that Myriam was drinking.
Despite the rumors, the family told News 12 that they are comforted by the community support for them. Neighbors set up a memorial for the family the day after the fatal accident.
Police are still investigating why Myriam lost control of the car. In the meantime, her family tells News 12 they have received donations from the community to help pay for funeral services.
The wake and funeral for the Lebruns will be held on Long Island next weekend.
