The life and legacy of rapper Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, was celebrated in Mount Vernon on Saturday.
Organizers say the Yonkers artist's music stands as a powerful testament to redemption, illustrating that even those who seem "lost" can find a new direction through faith.
"We are here today to celebrate the legacy of the amazing icon, the hip hop game changer, DMX. Earl 'DMX' Simmons," said Jazz Young, DMX's product manager.
The 50-year-old rapper died from a drug overdose in 2021.
DMX Day is celebrated every year on his birthday, Dec. 18.
