A newly renovated dog run at Dyker Beach Park was celebrated Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Councilman Vincent Gentile's office funded the $600,000 renovation. Gentile says it was in response to the growing number of dog-loving households in Dyker Heights, Fort Hamilton and Bay Ridge.
Renovations include a separate dog run for smaller dogs, two doggie drinking fountains, new benches and new fences. Park officials say the renovated play space will be a safe and spacious area for dogs to run around.
There is another dog run under renovation at Owls Head Park. Councilman Gentile says that should be completed by the end of this year.
