New York City is falling behind in complying with a year-old state electronic waste recycling law, according to a new environmental report.
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) says upstate residents are benefitting from the program, but those who live in the city need more outreach and education on how to safely discard unwanted electronics.
The NRDC says logistical problems and high transportation costs also make waste collection in the city more challenging.
