Bronx community groups say a new report shows the Yankees? plans to build a new stadium will cost taxpayers more then expected.
The New York Yankees are hoping to build a new stadium one block north of its current location. The submitted proposal also includes construction of four parking garages.
Good Jobs New York?s report says the project could cost taxpayers more than $400 million. The group says it would create fewer jobs than anticipated and most of those jobs would be low paying.The president of the New York Yankees, however, says the report is completely false and misleading. He adds that the Yankees, not the taxpayers, are paying the entire cost of the new $800 million stadium.
