New York City consumes more marijuana than anywhere else in the world, according to the 2023 Cannabis Global Price Index.

The report found New Yorkers consume an average of 62.3 metric tons of marijuana every year. Australians who live in Sydney came in second place with about 7 tons less than New York.

Tokyo has the most expensive marijuana at about $33 per gram. That's compared to about $12 per gram in New York City. Portland has the cheapest marijuana at $7 per gram.
