The major discovery happened on the property where Tubman was born more than 200 years ago in Church Creek, Maryland.
The site is the home of Tubman's father Ben Ross on the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.
After nearly two years of digging, a research team, including descendants of Tubman, unearthed a brick foundation, a fireplace, broken ceramic shards, pieces of pipe, teacups and a cache of artifacts that tied the people who lived there back to West Africa.
