A Ridgewood man spoke with News 12 exclusively after his girlfriend and their dog were attacked by a pit bull near their home on Troutman Street.

It took about five people stepping in to stop the pit from mauling Rumi, but by then, his leg was already injured.
"The hardest part about it is my partner doesn't feel safe anymore to walk the dog in the neighborhood,” said Naylor. “That makes me feel angry."
Since the attack, several people have chimed in on social media sharing that they too had the same experience with the same pit bull and its owner. News 12 spoke with one of those people last month.
Another lives around the corner from Naylor.
"The dog came tearing after him without a collar and was jumping on him,” said Martin Meyers. “Chomped his face. I picked up my dog by the harness and kept him over my head while the dog was jumping up and trying to get at my dog."
"We talked to someone at the precinct,” said Naylor. “They know what's happening. The Department of Health knows what's happening. Everyone in the neighborhood knows that there's this dog and dog owner, and without the name of the person – no one can really do anything."
News 12 reached out to both police and the Department of Health, but did not hear back.
