Family and friends gathered Saturday to pay tribute to a 12-year-old boy who died trying to save his family in their burning Kensington home.
Loved ones of Bengino Dodard, as well as Brooklyn Girl Scouts and elected officials, are calling the boy a hero. He died trying to save his grandmother and aunt.
The Girl Scouts lit candles and put them in front of the home.
State Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) says he wants to make sure that people remember Dodard?s heroic act. He says he plans to do that by naming the street Dodard lived on after him. Sen. Adams and State Sen. Kevin Parker (D-Brooklyn) plan to ask legislators in Albany to approve the naming next week.
