Some Brooklyn leaders are proposing solutions to what Sheepshead Bay residents call a prevalent problem: double parking.
Residents complain double parking is clogging streets, such as Ocean Avenue, Avenue U, Kings Highway and Sheepshead Bay Road.
Community Board 15 Chair Theresa Scavo says she wants a stronger police presence at trouble spots. She says traffic police already patrol the area around Sheepshead Bay Road Station and when most violators are told to move, they tend to circle the block and return to the same spot.
Councilman Michael Nelson (D-Brooklyn) agrees but wants to hold off on stiff penalties.
Many residents say double parking is unavoidable but they definitely want it cut down.
