Brooklyn residents took to the streets Saturday to protest the development of a high-rise apartment building in Prospect Park.
Demonstrators gathered near the Farmer's Market to protest the project. The coalition says they fear the 23-story complex will interfere with the natural habitat of Prospect Park. They also say the shadows cast by the building will destroy the visual beauty and aesthetic of the community.
Organizers say they want to make it clear that Brooklyn is not Manhattan.
The coalition has reached out to Mathieu Eugene, the council member of the 40th District, to call for the establishment of a building moratorium.
