For years, Royce Street residents say they have been trying to get a drainage problem on the street resolved.
Residents say even when it rains a small amount they have large puddles of water outside their homes.
They say Wednesday marked five days since it last rained, and the puddles were still there. They say the collection of water has become a health hazard.
"The drainage is horrible here," says John Alesia, Royce Street resident. "I've seen mosquitoes, I've seen mice, rats in here, I even dumped bleach into the puddles to try to get rid of the mosquitoes."
Residents tell News 12 they have been demanding the city to put in sewers to try and resolve the issue.
A Department of Transportation spokesperson says both the DOT and Department of Environment Protection are working on addressing the issue.
