In New York, theaters are reopening, restaurants are welcoming more guests and more businesses are seeing curfews lifted. But while new life comes downtown, some business owners say they still need more help.

AMC said 98% of its theaters were reopening Friday across the U.S., in a sign of hope for the company.

New York is also set to lift a curfew on how late movie theaters can operate beginning April 5. As of now, movie theaters must close at 11 p.m.

But while business owners like Alex Moschos are happy for movie theater owners, he doesn't understand while they will be able to have late-night showings, while his Huntington restaurant must close its doors by 11 p.m.

"After maybe they went to a movie -- the movie was from 7 to 9 or 8 to 10 -- and they'd come here and be here from 10 to 12," says Moschos.  "So you have that frustration because we're seeing other places being given the opportunity to stay open late."

Moviegoers, however, were excited for their Friday night outing, and future outings, at the AMC theater in Huntington.

Kevin Lavey, of Huntington, says having to sit home and watch movies simply wasn't the same.

"We used to go to the movies all the time, now we're just making our own popcorn, sit at home on the couch ... not the same," says Lavey.

While Ryan Caputo is happy to be back and pleased with the experience.

"It's been safe, 25% capacity in the theaters and the separation between the seats ... we feel comfortable," he says.
