The rising cost of diesel is taking a toll on the trucking industry, and the result is even more money out of your wallet.
The average cost for regular diesel in New York is at $5.33 a gallon, according to AAA.
This is forcing trucking companies like Santiego Worldwide Moving and Storage in West Nyack to tack on surcharges for customers just to break even.
Owner Giulio Zangrilli says he added the additional fees this month because his largest shipping trucks use about $1,000-worth of diesel every three days.
"We're not looking to make money and unfortunately, we have to pass this surcharge you know, onto our customers' invoices," he says.
Zangrilli predicts customers will start seeing even higher prices on everything they buy and order online in the coming weeks as the shipping industry adjusts to rising diesel prices.
