Thousands of college students are leaving New York with enormous debt, but one local congressman is pushing for proposals to lessen their burden.Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY 9th) says he?s working on a package of proposals that include increasing tax credits and Pell Grants for college students. The move comes as New York City and New York state universities are seeing skyrocketing tuition. One study revealed in the past four years tuition increased 30 percent while income and grants remained stagnant.Pamela Garcia is a Kingsborough Community College student who says students struggle. When push comes to shove financially, she says many are pushed out of university life because they can?t afford tuition.Weiner says he hopes to have some of the proposals implemented by November elections.
