Bronx residents walked Sunday to bring attention to climate change.
The "Walk for Mother Earth" was sponsored by the Riverdale-Kingsbridge Coalition for Climate Action.
The coalition grew out of a response to climate issues affecting local residents, according to Linda Paul, one of the organizers. She says the Bronx has the highest rate of childhood asthma in the country.
Organizers say Sunday's walk serves as the precursor for the larger "People's Climate March" in Manhattan next week.
Participants say they seek clean energy, like wind and solar, and climate education for children.
