Members of Community Board 8 are initiating a crackdown on cars parked on the street for long periods of time.
Residents of Riverdale have been searching for a solution to their parking dilemma. Many drivers say their neighbors use public street parking as warehouses for their cars, leaving them parked in spots for months at a time.
News 12 The Bronx found a blue Nissan Maxima that has been parked in the same spot for the past six months. The windshield is cluttered with parking tickets and the car?s registration expired more than nine months ago.
Community Board 8 is warning residents to move their vehicles or risk being towed.
According to the Department of Sanitation, drivers can leave their cars parked in the same spot for only seven days before officials can give it a summons. If a car receives more than three summonses, it may be towed.
